We got really lucky on both days, with the sun coming out when we were outside and the rain coming down when we had all made it inside.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">The vibe on the morning of both days was very calm, which helped me stay relaxed and be present. I loved getting ready with my bridesmaids at Bracu and had the best glam team, who radiated the most upbeat, positive energy.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">The ceremonies were so special and meaningful in different ways on both days, and we felt blessed that we were able to honor our Sri Lankan, Indian, and Kiwi roots.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Our reception at Bracu felt like a big party and a moment where we could sit back, spend time with our guests, and boogie our hearts out on the dance floor.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">As a whole, both our wedding days felt really meaningful, emotional, and so full of love. We got really lucky on both days, with the sun coming out when we were outside and the rain coming down when we had all made it inside.</p><p style="text-align: center;">The vibe on the morning of both days was very calm, which helped me stay relaxed and be present. I loved getting ready with my bridesmaids at Bracu and had the best glam team, who radiated the most upbeat, positive energy.</p><p style="text-align: center;">The ceremonies were so special and meaningful in different ways on both days, and we felt blessed that we were able to honor our Sri Lankan, Indian, and Kiwi roots.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Our reception at Bracu felt like a big party and a moment where we could sit back, spend time with our guests, and boogie our hearts out on the dance floor.</p><p style="text-align: center;">As a whole, both our wedding days felt really meaningful, emotional, and so full of love. Chances are, there will be things that don’t go to plan, and that’s okay! Getting hung up on the small things can stop you from enjoying and feeling the big things as wholly as you can, and those bigger, special moments are really what you will remember the most. While our blog will focus primarily on their civil ceremony, the photos beautifully capture the couple embracing every moment and truly enjoying their day.Sruthi looked radiant in Princeton by Forget Me Knot, a classic A-line gown featuring a V-neck bodice and a flattering wide waistband. The delicate buttons running down to the bottom of the train add a lovely touch, and the addition of pockets makes it even more special. Sruthi also personalised her gown by switching the fabric to taffeta, making it uniquely hers. Congratulations to the happy couple! What was it that made this particular wedding dress catch your eye and fall in love?I liked how my dress was simple yet classic. It cinched at the waist and had side cut-outs, which provided structure and shape while still being flowy from the waist down. I also loved that it was part of the Forget Me Knot collection, which meant it was designed in NZ by the Astra Bridal team. Because of this, it was more affordable, and I was able to make changes to my dress that I wouldn’t have been able to with other brands, such as modifying the material it was made from.Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.I absolutely loved my experience at Astra Bridal. I was looked after by Courtney, and she was just incredible. The first dress she picked out for me was very similar to the gowns on my wishlist, and it ended up being the one I chose. I was a little nervous going into the appointment, but Courtney and the team were so friendly. They immediately put me at ease and made me feel super comfortable throughout the whole process. Tell us your story, how you both met, and the proposal.Jason and I met through some mutual friends that we both worked with. We were just friends, but after a fateful house party and the text messages that followed, we decided to catch up for lunch. We both felt something very special between us, and five days later, we were in a relationship.Two years later, I signed up to do a 10km race in Taupo with one of my closest friends. Jason came along as our support crew. Taupo has always been a special place for Jason and me—its where we spent our one-year anniversary and is somewhere we frequently go to get away from the hustle and bustle of Auckland. Jason proposed the afternoon after the race on a hill in our favourite spot in Taupo, with the sun setting behind us and a beautiful view of the lake. It was so meaningful and perfect. What was your favourite part of the day?It’s so hard to choose just one part! After the ceremony and canapés, Jason and I got to sneak away for some sunset photos. It was really nice to step away and have some quiet time together so we could reflect and take a breather. I also really loved getting to spend time with my loved ones and having a boogie with everyone after dinner, thanks to the amazing band we had (Mischief Band NZ).This was similar to my favourite part of our Hindu wedding day. It ended up fitting like an absolute glove; it hit me in all the right places and just looked amazing straight off the rack.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">I didn't have the \"OMG, this is the dress\" moment. It was more of a \"There isn't going to be another one as good as this\" moment. We just kept going back to that same dress. At the end of the day, after another appointment we had that day, I called and placed the order.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.</strong></p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">The team was so inviting and just as excited as we were about dress shopping. Alas, when I opened my eyes, Sam was on one knee with the most stunning ring I could have dreamed of.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">After a few phone calls and squeals with my aunties, we went to dinner. I had actually asked one of my girlfriends to drop us off at the hotel earlier so I could see her, but she had said she was going out with flatmates. Hearing all our guests giggle at our beer boys. Instead of flower girls, two of our mates wore beer belts and walked down the aisle handing out beers to SexyBack by Justin Timberlake. The only downside was that I was so excited for it, completely not realising during the planning that I would be behind the fence and unable to see it.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"redactor-invisible-space\">2. During the downtime at dinner, before the kai and between speeches, our DJ put on some classics, and everyone just started to sing along and dance. I had planned and worked with Courtney, so everything just flowed. The reception was set up the day prior, and Sam was setting up our altar space in the morning.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">The night before, we had a girls' night with my aunties and cousins, so our hearts were so full. Having ended the night on such a wholesome note, the next morning just flowed with the same vibes. Us girls all jumped into one bed to start the day and just eased into it all—showers, kai, and coffee delivery with giggles and cuddles.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Hair and makeup were sorted, mimosas were flowing, flowers were arriving, and everything was just working. The boys were cruising through their morning with ironing shirts and figuring out the best way to pin on the boutonnieres since their shirts were so light.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">When it was time, we drove over to the ceremony, and to be honest, it couldn’t have gone better. It was a blast of colours, dancing, and laughs. So many family members from across the world and friends from different walks of life all coming together. I had planned and worked with Courtney, so everything just flowed. The reception was set up the day prior, and Sam was setting up our altar space in the morning.</p><p style="text-align: center;">The night before, we had a girls' night with my aunties and cousins, so our hearts were so full. Having ended the night on such a wholesome note, the next morning just flowed with the same vibes. Us girls all jumped into one bed to start the day and just eased into it all—showers, kai, and coffee delivery with giggles and cuddles.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Hair and makeup were sorted, mimosas were flowing, flowers were arriving, and everything was just working. The boys were cruising through their morning with ironing shirts and figuring out the best way to pin on the boutonnieres since their shirts were so light.</p><p style="text-align: center;">When it was time, we drove over to the ceremony, and to be honest, it couldn’t have gone better. It was a blast of colours, dancing, and laughs. So many family members from across the world and friends from different walks of life all coming together. What was it that made this particular wedding dress catch your eye and fall in love?I knew I wanted something with straps—something that I could throw on and not have to worry about. A dress that I would feel good in from every angle, and we found it.The dress I actually ended up choosing was put on just as a test to see if the neckline worked for me. It ended up fitting like an absolute glove; it hit me in all the right places and just looked amazing straight off the rack.I didnt have the OMG, this is the dress moment. It was more of a There isnt going to be another one as good as this moment. We just kept going back to that same dress. At the end of the day, after another appointment we had that day, I called and placed the order.Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.The team was so inviting and just as excited as we were about dress shopping. They provided us with everything we could have needed, and the Wellington studio is so calm and comforting that it made the experience truly pleasant.The dress search was so easy with Astra. I know my body shape quite well and knew exactly what I wanted. The amazing Lisa in Wellington picked a couple of dresses that I had put on my wish list, along with some she thought would work. Every dress fit, which was actually amazing—I thought I would have to do some imagining, but that wasn’t needed at all. It was never a battle of what looked good; it was just a matter of which one I liked best in the end. Tell us your story, how you both met, and the proposal.We actually met online and were just friends for a while. Sam worked on a site across the road from my office, so we would grab coffee when he was on smoko almost every day.
